Mello

Background: Mello’s life started in Belgium when he was born to a single prostitute mother, and went by the name of Mihael Keehl. From a young age he roamed the streets looking for money and food, learning to trust his instincts. At the age of five his mother was killed before his eyes by a thief looking for money, which led Mihael to slowly become untrusting of humanity. Because of his high intellect, he was brought to England, where he lived at Wammy’s House, an orphanage for gifted children.

Mihael spent nine years living at Wammy’s House, all the while honing his deductive reasoning and general intellect. The purpose of his being there was training to take the place of L, the world’s greatest detective, and his name was changed to ‘Mello’ to ensure future anonymity. He met with L a few points in his life, due to the fact he was second in line to take his position, and treasured his memories of meeting him above anything else.

Later, when Mello was around the age of fifteen, L was killed by a mass-murderer who went by the name of ‘Kira’. Mello was obviously stunned, and wanted to catch the destroyer of his role model. However, he was told to work together to uncover Kira’s identity with a younger boy named Near. Mello rejected the offer, as it meant working with his rival. He instead went to forge his own path, and joined the mafia.

At the age of about nineteen, Mello used his mafia connections to get the attention of Kira. Holding Kira's little sister hostage, he successfully acquired the tool Kira had been using to kill- an odd book entitled a 'Death Note' that allowed the user to kill a person by simply writing their true name. Later, though, Mello lost the Death Note after police went on a retrieval. An attempt to threaten them with a bomb left Mello with only a large burn on half of his face.

Later, Mello and his companion Matt went out to try to take down Kira another way- by kidnapping Kiyomi Takada, one of the mass-murderer’s right-hand supporters. However, much like the bomb idea, this plan backfired. Mello was killed when Takada wrote his name on a scrap of the Death Note’s paper.

Mello then floated through Mu for a large portion of time, and is now in Celesia.

Personality: Competitive, head-strong, and emotional, Mello runs on gut instinct. Most of the time it seems as though he gives no thought to any of his actions, but truthfully, he analyzes a situation for hours before making a sound decision. That’s not to say that he does move impulsively, but his quick wits and intelligence makes up for any lack of planning. Because of the deaths of his mother and L, Mello greatly distrusts most of humanity. He has no problem injuring himself or others, and is ready to die- provided he’s accomplished what he’s set out to do.

Day-to-day, Mello is generally very standoffish, and can be very sarcastic. He’ll respect anyone who isn’t stupid enough to try to fight him, and just may love anyone who gives him chocolate. For the others…he’s more than willing to prove how proficient he is with a pistol.
